ECAM Council – New York: Bringing together 20 countries across 4 continents, building bridges between Africa, Europe, and Italy.

ECAM President Kamel Ghribi today announced: “Africa is no longer the continent of tomorrow; it is the continent of today.”

The seventh edition of the ECAM Council has just concluded, leaving behind an extraordinary sense of possibility. Delegates from over 20 countries across 4 continents came together in New York, alongside the United Nations General Assembly, to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of global cooperation.

I am deeply honoured to have participated in discussions on Africa’s most pressing development challenges and the remarkable opportunities for collaboration with Europe and Italy.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, for his presence and the insights he shared in his address.

Heads of State, Heads of Government, and Ministers from 20 countries expressed a shared vision: Africa is not waiting for the future—it is shaping the present. For Europe and Italy, this is both a strategic responsibility and a historic opportunity brought to life through the launch of the Mattei Plan.

In a world marked by conflict and tension, we are building bridges of cooperation and economic diplomacy, confident that these efforts can foster peace and stability. As private actors, we are committed to contributing, with determination and purpose, to even the grandest goals—peace among them.
